After Singapore, Port Klang, the gateway to Kuala Lumpur had a lot to compete with.
Without a shadow of doubt the sentiment of this port was to visit Kuala Lumpur, see the Petronas Towers. This requires at least an hour's transfer from the port.
This for me was an admin port, somewhere to grab some deodorant and shower gel. Don't forget we still need to buy this stuff and not every port sells it. Additionally, my faithful running shoes had bitten the dust a few days earlier and unsurprisingly, size 13 is not in high demand in Asia.
Fortunately, the shuttle bus dropped us at a mall. En route we saw a bit of everyday life. The bus that took us there boasted that it had a happy driver and karaoke was available. Not exactly National Express!!!! The drive to the mall was about 20 minutes and we arrived to locals offering a drive to the twin towers.
Em and I opted for the mall. Given the journey there, passing what looked like poverish areas it was a surprise to see a mall with Adidas, Under Armour, Nandos, Taco Bell and more! When I say more.... It even had a Ducati shop. My Dad would have loved this. Superbikes are clearly strong in Malaysia.
Being a slightly bigger chap, I've had a lifetime of rejection! I used to spot a shoe and ask if they stocked a 13. These days I just ask if they stock any, rather than get excited about a certain style or colour. Under Armour delivered!!!!! They had one pair in my size. Running is something I've always loved. In recent times I've become pretty good at it, so with my old trainers knackered and no shop able to provide a replacement Under Armour came to the rescue.
Best of all was the deal, buy a pair of running shoes and get a pair free? Don't mind if I do! I won't bore you with the rest, the fact is, I came to Malaysia, went to a shopping mall and replaced some trainers. It was one of those days where life admin needs to happen. It did, and it was successful.
Next stop.....
