A voyage into timeless elegance aboard RMS Queen Mary 2
Join me on There and Back Again as we step aboard the magnificent RMS Queen Mary 2. This ocean liner is a testament to luxury and a beautiful nod to the golden age of sea travel. Prepare to be enchanted by its opulent interiors and classic charm as I share my experiences and photos from this extraordinary ship, a highlight of the world voyage.
Over the duration of the voyage, I'll update this page with images of the vessels unique features
The Grand Lobby
The iconic funnel. Fact number one, the ship and it's funnel height were designed to specifically be able to navigate below the Verrazano Bridge that crosses the Hudson River into New York city allowing the true Southampton to New York Transatlantic crossing.. On high tide she clears the bridge by around 3 meters. Not a lot!!!!
Fact two, one of the two whistles (look a bit like black loudhailers in the image) was taken from the original Queen Mary whilst the other is a copy!
Found on deck 12 and what onlookers see as we sail past. Kind of speaks for itself
The Royal Court Theatre which seats around 1100 guests at a time.
Showtime
'Illuminations' Queen Mary's second theatre. This theatre is used for guest speakers, a cinema, a 3D theatre and Cunard Insights, the latter being a more up close and personal guest speaker experience
Verandah Steakhouse is one of the many restaurants on board, this however comes with a cover charge due to being a speciality restaurant. The clue is in the name! The steaks are superb. My personal go to is almost always the steak tartare to start, fillet steak for main and then the Rum Baba to finish! And my what a finish! The rum is not shy, Pussers Gunpowder Rum in large quantities. This makes an extremely boozy dessert!! A cracking restaurant, highly recommended!
