Another birthday!

So it wasn't just me who had a birthday on this world voyage! And it would be rude of me not to mention it. I'm a humble man, it's not all about me. I mean, yes, I turned 50 so I agree with the sentiment that it should be all about me but being a man of the people it's only fair I share the wealth.

50 is a big deal right? But I'm nothing if not thoughtful. Have I mentioned it was my 50th? Yeah? Ok.

So it was also Ems birthday, as many know it wasn't her 50th, not like mine. Not as key a birthday as mine, but it's not all about me is it?

In all seriousness, Em did a lovely job of marking my birthday so I wanted to try to match that. Her medical team produced a lovely card and with a little help from AI and a ships printer I did the same.

But I wanted to make sure the occasion was memorable. How better to do this than sort out a cake?

I emailed the Food and Beverage Manager, asking for a cake to feed 10. The conversation went something like this

'can I order a cake, to feed 10, can I also have some writing? Happy Birthday Em'

The reply from the F&B Manager

'Yes, most people would buy a diamond ring rather than a slab of cake, but yes, Happy Birthday Em is fine '

Excellent, I think, that's in the bag, what a great boyfriend. Not only have I yielded to the fact that it's someone else's birthday but I've also got a lovely cake in the bag! Happy Days!

And then the cake arrived

The F&B Manager had copied in the pastry chef with his reply. As is apparent, something got lost in translation and whilst I admit that Em is indeed fine, this was not the intention.

But, my aim to make her birthday memorable was a success!! Honestly, sometimes you just can't make it up!!

Singapore next!!!
