As you know I'm currently travelling as a guest so have been enjoying the other side of life on board Queen Mary 2. And so far,.it's been a real eye opener experiencing what the ship is like when you're not working. I've met some lovely guests from various parts of the world. It's been lovely spending time with Em whilst she works towards the end of her contract. I know first hand how it can be as you approach the end of a tough contract!!!
A couple of mornings ago I received a knock at the stateroom door to be handed a bottle of prosecco, compliments of the ship, encouraging me to enjoy my time on board. Well, ok then, if you insist!!
However, yesterday evening I returned to the stateroom to find an even more impressive gift!
An A3 personalised map of the Panama Canal transit printed on heavy gauge paper. This was completely unexpected. I assume that all guests received this. Crew didn't as Ems disgust demonstrated. So my next mission is to obtain a poster tube so this can make it home in one piece when I arrive in Southampton at the end of April, where once framed it will take pride of place in the cottage!!!
Whilst I'm on the topic of momentos it would be remiss of me not to share yesterday's purchase. As they say, when in Rome etc etc
A thing of beauty I'm sure you'll agree!!!
